Blow bars ceramic K for impact crusher HSI

Choosing suitable blow bars or hammers with ceramic insert K for your horizontal shaft impact crusher is essential to guarantee the most efficient and economical crushing operation. Blow bars for impact crushers are manufactured in different alloys: manganese steel, martensitic steel, high chrome and the always-evolving MMC alloys (metal matrix composites). All these alloys are of great wear and impact resistance. The most important factor for an efficient and economical crushing operation is not the cost of the blow bar, it is the proper choice of the correct impact crusher blow bars. Choosing the correct blow bar for each working condition will be key.

We must do the following questions: What material is being fed? What is the size of this material? And what amount of undesirable material is going into the crushing chamber? Paying attention to these questions and answering them properly will be key to do the right choice of blow bar, and will guarantee a longer lifetime of your blow bars and your crushers, reducing the operational costs.

Aceros y Suministros has developed alloys that will suit the different working conditions and operations of our customers. Four alloys have been established as industrial baselines for the blow bars for impact crushers

  • High Manganese Steel – High ductility, recommended only for primary crushing operations where big-size material is fed into the crushing chamber and the abrasion is low.
  • Martensitic Steel – In terms of hardness and wear resistance, martensitic steel is between manganese and high chrome
  • Martensitic Steel + Ceramic Insert or Metal Matrix Composite (MMC)
  • High Chrome – with chemically bonded carbon (chrome carbide)
  • High Chrome + Ceramic Insert or Metal Matrix Composite (MMC)

Ceramic insert Blow bars – Martensitic +Ceramic Insert

When controlled primary crushing and medium-low abrasiveness or recycling works are carried out, it is recommended to use martensitic steel blow bars. This alloy offers almost similar resistance to impact as manganese steel but with a higher resistance to abrasion wear.
If to this martensitic steel alloy we add ceramic inserts, the lifetime of the blow bars will be increased by almost 100%. The abrasion resistance of the ceramic insert technology is helping customers to achieve longer periods of crushing when compared to monometallic blow bars. Blow bars or impat hammers with ceramic inserts are a big development for the aggregate crushing operations.

Ceramic Blow Bars K – High chrome + Ceramic Insert

This alloy offers medium impact resistance and high abrasion resistance. It is commonly used in secondary or tertiary crushing, always controlling the feed size. For example: limestone, asphalt, concretes, construction debris without steel reinforcement or intrusive objects. When MMC technology is applied to this alloy in the blow bars, the abrasion resistance reaches 40-50% compared to the blow bars bar without ceramic inserts. Its use must be in very abrasive working conditions and small feed size.

For certain working conditions, it is possible to manufacture manganese blow bars with tungsten carbide inserts. It is a variation of the ceramic inserts used in the martensitic and high chrome blow bars. These tungsten carbide inserts, if the working conditions allow it, will almost double the lifetime of regular manganese blow bars.
